PARADISE VALLEY, AZ – March 21, 2022 – Alejandro Martinez has been named Executive Chef at LON’s at the Hermosa, a AAA Four Diamond luxury boutique hideaway in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Renowned for its globally inspired Arizona fare, the critically acclaimed LON’s at the Hermosa is the culinary centerpiece of the hotel and is complemented by a subterranean wine cellar, a celebrated outdoor dining patio, and its bar and casual dining counterpart: LON’s Last Drop.

Martinez was Executive Sous Chef at LON’s for two years before taking the reins at Troon Country Club, where he was named Executive Chef in 2018. In addition to managing the food operation, which included banquets, weddings and private member events, Martinez was integral in the Clubhouse renovation, creating not only menus, but also culinary experiences for the members and their guests. Martinez was awarded the Distinguished Achievement Award in 2021 for his exceptional contribution in leadership to the member experience and in 2019, was named Troon Iron Chef in a company-wide competition. Prior to joining the Hermosa Inn in 2015, Martinez was Chef de Cuisine at Silverleaf Club overseeing a team of 25.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Martinez started cooking at the age of 16, with a desire to travel and see the world. A part-time job in high school became his full-time career upon graduation with numerous positions in upscale restaurants and luxury hotels in Buenos Aires. In 2001, Martinez headed to Italy for a nine-year run, working first as Chef De Partie at a Michelin starred Relais & Chateau, and eventually as an Executive Chef in several highly-rated historic villas and restaurants with one and two Michelin stars. In 2010, Martinez joined the Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda as restaurant chef.

Martinez has a Master Certificate of Hospitality Management and Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell University.
