Federica Ceola – Acanto Restaurant, the flagship of the gastronomic offerings at the Hotel Principe di Savoia, is entering a new era with the appointment of a young and talented chef. Matteo Gabrielli is now officially at the helm of one of the iconic restaurants on the Milanese scene.

Born in the province of Varese, Matteo Gabrielli is 33 years old. Despite his young age, he has a wealth of experience. He began his career in London in the world of fine dining before moving into the hotel industry, working at five star establishments including Four Seasons Park Lane and Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. It was here that he had the opportunity to work with Heston Blumenthal, the pioneer of multi-sensory cuisine and holder of the prestigious 3 Michelin Stars.

After five years, he decided to return to Italy, where he gained further experience alongside star chefs such as Antonio Guida at the famous Pellicano restaurant in Porto Ercole and chef Vito Mollica. In 2019, he landed at the Hotel Principe di Savoia, where, after working as sous chef for the past four years, he will now take on the challenge of taking over the Acanto restaurant.

Matteo leads his team with care and dedication, creating innovative and creative cuisine while maintaining the traditions linked to his Lombard origins.

The restaurant’s menu, created by Chef Gabrielli, is made up of a tasting menu and a section dedicated to Italian classics, enriched with a touch of originality and innovation, and always using the highest quality materials.

“We are delighted to have Matteo Gabrielli at the helm of Acanto Restaurant. His dishes are inspired by the desire to showcase the best of Italian cuisine and its finest ingredients. We believe in respecting traditions and experimenting with new techniques, and Matteo perfectly embodies these values,” said Ezio Indiani, General Manager of the Hotel Principe di Savoia.

The atmosphere of the sophisticated and classy Acanto restaurant is relaxing and welcoming, thanks to the large full-wall windows overlooking the Italian-style garden that provide priceless light. A perfect atmosphere both during the day, for a business lunch or convivial moments, and in the evening when it becomes the perfect place for a romantic dinner. And from the open kitchen one can admire the spectacle of the chefs intent on preparing the dishes.

For both lunch and dinner, guests can choose a special tasting menu created by the chef consisting of six courses that vary according to the season.

On Sundays from 12:30 to 3:00 pm, Acanto offers a live music brunch, Milan’s most popular gastronomic event. There are five thematic islands (hors d’oeuvres, vegetarian recipes, bakery, oysters and raw seafood, DOP cheeses and cured meats) and Chef Gabrielli’s uniqu creations, with a selection of dishes based on seasonal products. Desserts by pastry chef Beniamino Passannante complete the offer.
