HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.–Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa announces it has completed the resort’s second phase renovation that includes a transformation of guest rooms and suites, which follows the recent updating of the resort’s public spaces, dining outlets and function space.

Over the years, the resort has hosted Presidents George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton, and several films were shot nearby including “Forrest Gump,” “The Big Chill,” and “The Legend of Bagger Vance.”

Owned and managed by Columbia Sussex, the Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa is located in the exclusive residential community of Palmetto Dunes, which Condé Nast named one of the top resorts in the south in its Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards for the past three years in a row. Whether strolling the three miles of pristine beach, playing the three PGA golf courses, or exploring the 2,000 acres of natural beauty and outdoor activities, create an unforgettable stay. Palmetto Dunes is the best place for Hilton Head bike rentals and water sports, along with a full-service marina, award-winning tennis and pickleball center, and a sweeping 11-mile lagoon system for kayaking, fishing or simply getting back to nature.

Located across from Palmetto Dunes on 285 acres of saltwater coastline, the Shelter Cove Community includes Shelter Cove Harbour, Shelter Cove Plaza, and the new Shelter Cove Towne Centre. Open and accessible, with an abundance of bike paths and pedestrian walkways, Shelter Cove Community offers visitors and residents a fabulous playground of dining, shopping, nightlife, boating, water sports and excursions, theater, picnics and festivals.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Shelter Cove hosts a weekly fireworks show and guests of Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa can walk to Shelter Cove or those staying in the ten-story resort tower get an unparalleled view of the show.

The guest room and suite renovations at Marriott Hilton Head Resort & Spa include:

The overall design is inspired by the breathtaking landscape. The interiors are crafted with a neutral aesthetic, utilizing a finish palette that highlights the views outward into the lush surroundings. The concept adds a refreshing coastal, clean, and modern look with hues of sea glass. The whimsical headboard mural references the ripples and sand ridges intertwined with the breaking waves.

The resort’s second phase includes renovations to the 513 guest rooms and suites, including the Presidential Suite and four Vice Presidential Suites, which have been renovated to reflect the new design philosophy using earthy tones with complementing sea glass and grey, coupled with a contemporary and upscale twist including new entry way tile, vanities, tiled in showers, carpet, room paint and mural headboards that reflect the Marriott brand’s comfortable, modern aesthetic. Each guestroom features stunning ocean or island views, with large-format windows to allow guests to fully enjoy the surrounding landscape.

Additionally, each luxurious guest room is designed for optimal rest and productivity with architectural framing, contrasting finishes and thoughtful solutions to enhance a guest’s stay, such as:

  • Convenient wall and lamp outlets outfitted with USB ports for multiple electronic devices
  • Luxurious bedding with cotton-rich linens and fluffy pillows
  • High-speed Wi-Fi and a large desk with a well-lit workspace, comfortable chair and plug-in panels
  • 50-inch flat-panel TVs with the Marriott Entertainment Package, including premium cable and movie channels to keep guests well-entertained
  • In-room coffee bar
  • Strategically placed mirrors, including back-lit vanity mirror and full-length mirrors

The resort’s entry and porte-cochere feature a newly resurfaced driveway entrance, high-end herringbone pedestrian and vehicle pavers, and the porte-cochere completely rewired with new sleek LED architectural accent lighting. New light sconces added underneath and around the main entrance create a warm and inviting greeting to guests entering the resort.

The entire exterior of all buildings on premises have been freshly painted using a coating technology conducive to withstand the salt air environment.
