JACKSONVILLE, Fla.–November 22, 2019–Columbia Sussex, one of the largest Marriott franchisees in the country, continues its aggressive renovation program to at least 10 of its Marriott owned and operated properties. Known for its central location with easy access to beaches and Jacksonville’s vibrant town center, Marriott Jacksonville has completed Phase I of its multi-million dollar renovation, which focused on the transformation of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites.

Located at the epicenter of Jacksonville, with easy access to the city’s vibrant Downtown area, famed sporting and entertainment venues, and stunning beaches, Marriott Jacksonville offers a comfortable home base for enjoying the best of the city with luxury amenities and contemporary, thoughtfully designed spaces. Reflecting the intensely musically and theatrically driven culture of Jacksonville, the hotel’s new aesthetic is bursting with warm and rich tones that rhythmically come together through visually appealing design elements.

Phase II will include public and meeting spaces, dining venues, outside pool deck, fitness center, and Marriott’s signature Greatroom, which includes the lobby lounge, lobby bar and restaurant, and is expected to be complete in January 2020. The hotel’s updated design reflects a contemporary aesthetic, rich with visual interest and dimension and infused with a variety of textures that are designed to promote ultimate guest comfort and enjoyment of the new spaces.

Phase I: Guest Rooms

With a base of warm, modern textures, the new guest room color palette reflects the tones of Jacksonville’s renowned natural beauty and rich musical history. All 255 guest rooms and suites have been renovated to reflect this design philosophy using artwork inspired by the city’s rich musical history and awe-inspiring beaches, coupled with a modern and upscale twist reflecting Marriott’s modern aesthetic.

Many guest rooms feature views of the Jacksonville skyline, with room rates starting at $199. Each luxurious guest room is designed for optimal rest and productivity with architectural framing that grounds the space, contemporary touches, upscale fixtures, and thoughtful solutions to enhance a guest’s stay, such as:

  • 344 square feet of temperature-controlled space with purposeful modern design features, including a sitting area with oversized chairs for enhanced comfort and a workspace featuring a desk, ergonomic chair and convenient electrical outlet
  • Convenient wall outlets, lamp outlets and nightstands outfitted with USB ports for multiple electronic devices
  • Luxurious bedding with pillow-top mattresses, comfortable duvets, cotton-rich linens and fluffy pillows
  • High-speed Wi-Fi and 55-inch flat-panel TVs with premium streaming cable and movie channels to keep guests well-entertained
  • Strategically placed mirrors, including back-lit vanity mirror and full length mirrors

The hotel’s Concierge Lounge, located on the 9th Floor, serves as an exclusive lounge offering complimentary all-day dining and evening bar service with complimentary business services and a large, quiet space for getting work done or unwinding from the day. Open weekdays from 6:30 a.m. through 10:00 p.m., Concierge Lounge dining options include a full American breakfast, grab-and-go snacks, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and late night snacks. It is an exclusive area for Marriott elite guests and any guests who book designated Concierge level rooms.

Phase II: Public and Meeting Spaces, Restaurants

Upon completion of Phase II of the renovation, guests will enter the hotel’s spacious lobby and be greeted by front desk associates offering thoughtful service and seamless management of the check-in process.

Further into the inviting Greatroom lobby, guests can kickstart their vacations or unwind from a day of exploring Jacksonville in the Greatroom Lobby Bar, which features specialty cocktails, a broad selection of wine and beer offerings, and lunch and dinner menus. For a restaurant experience, on-site restaurant Bistro 202 offers American cuisine and a lively restaurant experience perfect for families, couples or friends looking for the perfect place to enjoy a meal together. As part of the hotel’s renovation, both the Lobby Bar and Bistro 202 will become the Greatroom, undergo a full redesign to reintroduce the outlets with a more contemporary aesthetic and menus creatively inspired to incorporate the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients..

The hotel’s nearly 20,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting spaces comprise 15 event rooms and 13 breakout rooms, with the largest space accommodating up to 750 guests. Marriott’s signature Greatroom on the lobby level will serve as a hub of activity for lounging, dining, meeting and connecting. As part of the hotel renovation, meeting spaces will be completely refreshed with new furnishings, modern A/V capabilities and technical offerings, and refreshed catering menus.

Finally, upon completion of the renovation’s second phase, guests will be able to enjoy the amenities of the hotel’s renovated outdoor pool and fitness center, which will also be redesigned to mirror the renovated hotel’s modern design, thoughtful and sophisticated touches, and warm hospitality.
