PROVIDENCIALES, TURKS + CAICOS – March 3, 2020 – Less than a year into his return to Wymara Resort & Villas as director of sales and marketing, Jorge Collazo has been appointed General Manager of the award-winning Grace Bay Beach resort. The announcement comes during a landmark year for the property, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary with seven posh new villas and resort room renovations that will up the ante on the modern traveler’s luxury Turks & Caicos vacation experience.

In his new role, Collazo will oversee all aspects of the resort’s operations, tapping into his deep-rooted hospitality experience and love of the island to continue raising the profile of the property, perfecting the guest experience, and championing a culture of employee growth and development that promotes from within.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to lead the Wymara Team during such an exciting and defining moment in the resort’s history, welcoming new offerings and upholding service standards aligned with Forbes Five Stars to shape each guest’s perfect stay,” said Collazo, who initiates his tenure as general manager as the resort breaks ground on Phase II of its villa expansion project.

Adding to its portfolio of seven, four- and five-bedroom oceanfront villas that debuted this past winter and overlook the protected waters of Turtle Tail, Phase II will introduce five new villas, as well as a recreation complex complete with a tennis/basketball court, lap pool, game room, steam room, sauna and bocce court. Collazo will also put an emphasis on expanding Wymara Resort’s wellness offerings and sustainability efforts.

Collazo’s 2019 return to Wymara Resort as the Director of Sales and Marketing was a homecoming for the industry veteran, who had worked with the property from 2012-2014. He was previously part of the opening team at the Silversands Grenada and held the DOSM role at Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa and The Setai, both in South Beach, as well as the opening DOSM role at the Condado Vanderbilt Hotel in Puerto Rico. His early days in hospitality included roles in room operations, housekeeping, revenue and reservations, which ultimately propelled him into sales and marketing.

As General Manager, Collazo will continue to closely work with the sales team, adding, “The Travel Advisor community has supported my career through the years and I look forward to continue building on our business relationships and to now personally welcome their clients who they have entrusted to us.”
