BEVERLY HILLS, CA – February 9, 2022 – Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, the award winning five-star hotel in the heart of Beverly Hills, announces the newest addition to the talented food and beverage team with the appointment of Maykel Escalona as director of food and beverage. Escalona will oversee the culinary division of the hotel, including Jean-Georges Beverly Hills, The Rooftop by JG, Lobby Lounge, in-room dining, catering and banquet events.

Escalona boasts an impressive background with years of experience in the hospitality service industry, most recently serving as director of food and beverage at The Beekman Hotel in New York City. During his time there, Escalona oversaw five venues, successfully leading all through re-openings following the pandemic shutdowns, in addition to opening a new lounge on property. Prior to his time in New York, Escalona resided in Florida where he began his career in food and beverage at The Ritz Carlton South Beach and advancing in his career as director of culinary operations, for 1 Hotel, general manager at Beachcraft by Tom Colicchio and as general manager of Michael Mina 74 and Bleau Bar at Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

Bringing a slew of expertise to Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills, Escalona has a history of outstanding guest experience, innovative menu planning, ability to build high-energy service and culinary teams, fiscal planning, vendor management, marketing development and much more.
