The Alfond Inn at Rollins has provided more than $16.6 million in Scholarships to Incoming Freshman at Rollins College since opening in 2013

Winter Park, Florida – Philanthropy is at the heart of The Alfond Inn at Rollins, the award-winning Florida hotel that was named one of the Top 5 Hotels in Florida by Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards 2019.

What distinguishes The Alfond Inn at Rollins is that it was created to endow scholarships. Owned by Rollins College, all net profits from The Alfond Inn are directed to the Alfond Scholars Program, the College’s premier scholarship fund. These full-ride, four-year scholarships include tuition, room and board, and are awarded to deserving first-year students in the College of Liberal Arts at Rollins College. The approximate value of each scholarship is more than $264,000 over four years. Since 2013, when The Alfond Inn opened, 63 full scholarships have been awarded.

On top of receiving full scholarships to attend Rollins, Alfond Scholars are mentored as candidates for additional prestigious academic recognition such as Rhodes, Goldwater, and Truman scholars. Every guest of the hotel makes a significant difference in the lives of the students who are awarded these important scholarships at Rollins, one of the country’s top liberal arts institutions.

The hotel’s very beginnings relied on the grant of $12.5 million from the Harold Alfond Foundation. Created as Winter Park’s very first luxury boutique hotel, The Alfond Inn at Rollins was designed to exhibit The Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art , which is part of the collection of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College. It is the only hotel in the United States that serves as the extension of an art museum.
