May 23– May 23–WINTER HAVEN — Legoland Florida Resort is now taking reservations for Pirate Island Hotel and has set an opening date of May 22, 2020.

The Winter Haven attraction announced plans in January to build a second hotel. The existing Legoland Hotel opened in 2015.

The theme park also announced that it will open a 9-hole miniature golf course on Friday. The course is open only to hotel guests.

In what Legoland calls a "limited-time offer," the booking of two nights at Pirate Island Hotel yields one free night. Legoland didn't reveal rates in a news release, but its website showed a three-night package available for $1,744.80, before taxes, that includes two-day admission to the theme park and Legoland Water Park for a family of four. That rate, based on getting one night free, comes to $581.60 a day.

Reservations can be made at www.legoland.com/pirateisland.

Legoland released new details about Pirate Island Hotel, a five-story building that will contain 150 rooms. It will include a pirate-themed eatery called Shipwreck Restaurant and the Smuggler's Bar, offering alcoholic beverages.

The hotel will also feature an entertainment area with kid-friendly nightly programming and Lego-themed play pits.

The new hotel will share a lobby with the existing hotel. As with the original hotel, Pirate Island Hotel's rooms will have separate spaces for children and adults.

Pirate Island Hotel will be the third lodging option constructed at the theme park. Legoland Beach Retreat, a complex of 83 bungalows across Cypress Gardens Boulevard from the main park, opened in 2017.
