WANSHIP, UTAH (May 21, 2019) – The Lodge at Blue Sky, Auberge Resorts Collection’s highly anticipated Utah property opening late May 2019, today announced the appointment of Galen Zamarra as Executive Chef. In this role, he will create an inspired culinary experience on property including Yuta, The Lodge’s signature restaurant featuring authentic flavors inspired by indigenous ingredients and breathtaking views. Timed to the property opening, Yuta will welcome resort guests in late May and locals and non-hotel guests starting June 22, 2019.

Zamarra joins The Lodge at Blue Sky from the highly regarded Mas (farmhouse) and Mas (la grillade) restaurants in New York City. In his nearly 25 years of experience in both The United States and Europe and with a culinary arts degree from The Culinary Institute of America, Zamarra has cultivated his craft under acclaimed chefs such as David Bouley in New York and Michelin 3-starred chefs Georges Blanc, Michel Bras and Alain Passard in France. Zamarra was recognized as the James Beard Foundation “Rising Star of the Year” during his tenure at Bouley Bakery.

“We are thrilled to introduce Chef Zamarra and welcome him to the Auberge family,” said Joe Ogdie, General Manager of The Lodge at Blue Sky. “With an extensive culinary background, passion for sustainable practices and commitment to cuisine of the highest standards, we can’t wait to invite guests to experience all the wonderful ways Chef’s vision will reflect the soul of the property and surrounding bounty.”

“I’m excited to join The Lodge at Blue Sky and to start this incredible culinary journey surrounded by Utah’s vast mountains and lush valleys and the region’s unique ingredients and produce,” said Executive Chef Galen Zamarra. “There is a rich history of travelers and cultures that moved through the area and from that heritage we are defining a regional cuisine true to Utah. I look forward to welcoming both guests and locals to a first-of-its-kind destination for sophisticated yet approachable cuisine.”

The name Yuta is inspired by what the Ute Indians called the area and themselves, meaning "mountain top" or "people who live high in the mountains." The restaurant is located in Sky Lodge, the resort’s main house and features soaring glass walls that open to a patio for indoor/outdoor dining with dramatic mountain vistas and seats up to 65 guests, a convivial bar and lounge, as well as a private wine room that can be used for intimate events.
