PHOENIX (April 5, 2017) – Phoenix’s romantic destination resort, Royal Palms Resort and Spa, announces a multimillion dollar renovation to all 119 rooms, including its Presidential Suite, as well as select meeting and event spaces, to commence in June 2017. The renovations will complement recent improvements made to the resort’s pool and lounge area, event lawns and landscaping.

Guestroom and event space upgrades will be completed in phases, in an effort not to affect the guest experience. Many guest rooms are expected to be completed as early as July 2017, while total completion is expected in fall 2017.

“Royal Palms is one of the most celebrated and cherished resorts in the country, and we intend to keep the resort’s distinct character intact, while curating an elevated guest experience,” said Geoff Gray, general manager, Royal Palms Resort and Spa. “As stewards of this estate, we understand the importance of preserving its history and legacy, while providing elegant and sophisticated accommodations.”

The resort’s rich history, emblematic details, and iconic location are at the center of the design plans for its guestroom refresh. Rooms will be lightened and brightened using the natural backdrop of desert Earth tones and framed by rich wood architectural elements. Eclectic furnishings will blend thoughtful functionality with the character of a majestic estate, such as refined bedside lamps, additional electrical outlets, and artistically etched lighted mirrors featured in bathrooms of suites and casitas. New artwork and linens will reflect the hues and lavish textures of the Mediterranean, the design influence of the original mansion. The 1,700 square-foot Presidential Suite will see improvements throughout, including upgrades to the kitchen area and additional enhancements on the private patio that showcases breathtaking views of Camelback Mountain.

Additional upgrades, naturally blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, will be made to all event lawns and include the addition of lush landscaping throughout the grounds and select design touches in the Estrella Salon and various meeting spaces.

Royal Palms is located on nine breathtaking acres at the foot of the iconic Camelback Mountain. The historic resort combines the graciousness and sophistication of a storied Mediterranean villa with the intimacy and privacy of a secluded retreat, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit. Winding stone paths transport guests past a grove of orange trees, trickling fountains in courtyards, roaring outdoor fireplaces, 100-year-old rustic doorways and hand-painted tiles, and lush gardens filled with magenta bougainvillea, exotic plants and desert flowers. A true destination for lovers, the resort was originally built as a private mansion in 1929 as a grand gesture of love by financier Delos Willard Cooke for his wife Florence. Guests feel right at home while the heritage and heartbeat of the Royal Palms lives on.

The resort is one of the latest additions to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, which turns guests into storytellers, offering them new adventures and authentic experiences. Like all properties within The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, Royal Palms provides guests with “social currency,” allowing them the freedom to be unique.
