CHICAGO – August 18, 2021 – Leading the way in post-pandemic hospitality, the highly anticipated, dual-branded Canopy by Hilton Chicago Central Loop (Canopy Chicago) and Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Central Loop (HGI Central Loop) are excited to announce the appointment of Neil DeGuia to serve as Complex General Manager and Chief Enthusiast in advance of the complex’s debut early Fall 2021. A native of the Chicagoland suburb of Schaumburg, DeGuia’s passion for hospitality is unparalleled and has bloomed over nearly two decades in key roles including General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Deerfield, General Manager of the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Lombard Oak Brook, and the General Manager at Aloft – Chicago O’Hare. For his efforts and ingenuity in providing an unmatched experience, DeGuia’s talent has shined in his work and as such, he has been named a nominee of Hotel Management Magazine “GM to Watch”, as well as a nominee for Aimbridge Hospitality’s GM of the Year three times over. DeGuia will bring his infectious warmth and vast experience to the role at the new complex as he fulfills his responsibility to foster connections within the community and the complex, working to make a positive and lasting impact while doing so.

DeGuia will soon lead a spirited team through the opening of the new complex, located on the site of the 117-year old revival-style, landmarked building once known as the bustling headquarters of the iconic Chicago and North Western Railway. The stunning new property located at 226 W. Jackson in Chicago will feature 350 guestrooms and suites between both properties, along with food and beverage concepts for each to be named Depot 226 and Garden Central, respectively. In addition, guests will find a wide range of amenities including an on-site fitness center, two unique event spaces and outdoor terrace space shared between the two. Developed by Chicago-based Phoenix Development Partners and operated by Aimbridge Hospitality, the project serves as a much-welcomed beacon of hope for the Chicago travel industry and DeGuia’s leadership will prove immeasurably valuable as he guides the property’s team to serve with warmth and welcome at the forefront of each experience.

“This project both celebrates Chicago’s rich history and promises of a thriving Chicago hospitality scene, and I could not be more honored to be involved in such a momentous opening,” said Neil DeGuia, General Manager and Chief Complex Enthusiast. “Each and every day, our team will work diligently to foster an experience that is inviting and memorable in every way. I look forward to the connections we will make both in our neighborhood and beyond for years to come, in an effort to continuously create an enriching experience that touches many.”

A multi-talented leader, DeGuia has another strong passion – for music – that has brought him much joy and success over the years. Having toured as the frontman for popular band “Everybody Uh-Oh,” DeGuia will utilize his energetic and charming personality to make an impact on each and every guest.
