Hyatt Regency Houston, downtown Houston’s signature hotel, has named veteran hotelier Steven J. Smith as General Manager of the 955-room, AAA four diamond property.

Smith comes to Hyatt Regency Houston with more than three decades in hospitality leadership, all with Hyatt Hotels, including his most recent experience as General Manager of Grand Hyatt Washington and Hyatt Regency Washington, both in Washington D.C.

He was named the Hotel Association of Washington D.C.’s 2015 General Manager of the Year and is a five-time nominee of Hyatt Hotels General Manager of the Year Award.

Throughout his career, Smith has been active in hotel associations, convention & visitor bureaus and chambers of commerce. He also is an Executive Board Member of the Ryan Kerrigan Foundation, established to provide support for seriously ill, special needs and physically challenged children in need in the greater Washington D.C. area.
