LEXINGTON, VA – April 7, 2022 – The Georges, an award-winning boutique hotel in Lexington, Virginia, announced today it has acquired the neighboring Sheridan Livery Building, currently the home of the Tonic Restaurant and Inn. This addition will expand The Georges from 21 guest rooms to 33 and provide more banquet and event space to benefit guests and the community.

Dating back to 1887, the historic Sheridan Livery Building originally served as a horse stable and stagecoach depot and has an important place in Main Street Lexington’s history. The Georges’ owner Ann Parker Gottwald will lead the hotel’s renovation with the same respect to its historical significance as with The Georges other three buildings.

“We are grateful to the building’s former owners, the Benincasa family, for their stewardship of the Sheridan Livery Building,” said Gottwald. “We will begin thoughtful and loving renovations right away, and we plan to open the new guest rooms in the Fall.”

The initial renovation phase will focus on the 12 guest rooms, setting a new standard of quality and comfort for guests. Future renovation phases will address the building’s ample restaurant and event spaces.
