Drawing upon her experience in strengthening operations by supporting employee engagement and creativity, Stokes became Arlo’s first Corporate Director of Operations.

Replacing Stokes at Arlo Midtown and joining Arlo’s promotion ranks is Mark Butler, formerly General Manager of Arlo NoMad. Butler joined Arlo NoMad in March 2021, where he oversaw the hotel’s recovery from the pandemic, rebuilding corporate and leisure guest relationships and experience, which resulted in record annual average daily rates and gross operating profits. A native of Ireland, Butler has been recognized for developing and promoting team members and building executive teams, guest satisfaction and profitability. His two decades of global hospitality experience includes humble beginnings at Conrad hotels in Dublin and Chicago before joining Fitzpatrick New York in Manhattan and working under John Fitzpatrick, two-time Chairman of the Hotel Association of New York City. Among other international hospitality groups and hotels, Butler worked at the five-star Sofitel New York, Dalata Hotel Group (Ireland’s largest hotel group) and Hilton Times Square until its closing in October 2020 due to COVID.

Joining the Arlo Hotels family, Joe Kavanagh has been hired as General Manager at Arlo NoMad. The 25-year hospitality professional has worked for noteworthy companies, including W Hotels, SLS Hotels, Starwood Hotels & Resorts and Archer Hotels, and most recently served as General Manager for Paramount Hotel Times Square.

“It’s an honor to join the team at Arlo NoMad, a property known for its exceptional service and excellent location,” said Kavanagh. “I am excited to work with the team to continue delivering unparalleled guest experiences and elevate the hotel’s reputation in the region and beyond.”

Richard Tucker, formerly Hotel Manager of Arlo Midtown, has been promoted to General Manager of Arlo SoHo. Throughout his distinguished career spanning over a decade, Tucker has left an indelible mark on each role he has undertaken. He has experience working with hotels ranging from 21 to 400+ keys, including Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, Thompson Hotels, Highgate, Sightline Hospitality and Destination Hotels & Resorts. In his most recent role at Arlo Midtown, Tucker was instrumental in shaping the hotel’s identity as a leading New York City hospitality destination and experience. In addition to his operational responsibilities, Tucker is an active participant in Arlo Hotels’ Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee and initiatives. His commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace has been driving positive change within the organization and on-property, reflecting his enduring legacy as a leader with a social conscience.

Finally, Arlo Hotels has appointed William Burpitt as General Manager of Arlo Williamsburg, the brand’s latest property to join the portfolio. Coming from a family of hotel owners and operators in the United Kingdom, Burpitt brings to Arlo not only his personal hospitality experience but also his academics from his time studying hospitality management at Bournemouth University. He continued his career by moving overseas to work for various hotel brands throughout the U.S. and the Caribbean, including Belmond hotels in Charleston, South Carolina, and St. Martin and other hotels in Miami, New England and NYC.
