Hotel Online Special Report Richard Jabara Appointed President of the Worldwide Owners Association of Bass Hotels & Resorts Represents the Franchise Owners of Some 3,000 Hotels ATLANTA – – Oct. 23, 2000 – – Richard Jabara has been appointed president of the worldwide owners association of Bass Hotels & Resorts (IAHI), which represents the franchise owners of some 3,000 hotels under the Holiday Inn*, Crowne Plaza*, Holiday Inn Express*, Staybridge Suites* by Holiday Inn brands.

The appointment was announced at the associations’ annual owners conference last week in Las Vegas attended by 3,000 hotel owners from around the world.

Jabara’s appointment sets the stage for a new, revitalized association with an aggressive and proactive agenda that will identify new ways for the group to bring more value to its members and pursue opportunities that will add value to the Bass brands. “During my 12 month tenure as president of the IAHI, my mission is to develop great partnerships and heart connections with all the associations’ constituents,” said Jabara. “By doing so, we will realize our key goals that include spearheading a proactive, international expansion program to position the association as a truly global player. We will also support the growth of Bass’ Richard Jabara President and CEO Meyer Jabara Hotels frequent guest program, Priority Club Worldwide, to make it the number one program in the industry and thirdly, we will dramatically enhance the associations’ internal and external communications to forge a stronger presence for the group within the hospitality industry.

A 30-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Jabara is also president and CEO of Meyer Jabara Hotels, a 25-hotel strong corporation with well-respected brands such as Holiday Inn, Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton, and Hampton Inn. He has extensive expertise in new hotel development, acquisitions and renovations and plays an active role in the daily management of his hotels, including teaching, training, staffing and strategic planning. Under his leadership Meyer Jabara Hotels have won awards for excellence from five different franchisers.

Under his guidance, Meyer Jabara Hotels have pioneered the Convenience Court Cafe development concept with Holiday Inns and the development of various theme brands, including the Market Street Café and Teddy’s Night Clubs. Most recently, he has formed a partnership with Budweiser Brewers to develop the first hotel-based Budweiser Tap Room in the country. Jabara’s other business interests include an e-commerce company and a computer networking firm.

Over the course of his career, Jabara has been actively involved in a number of industry committees. He has served with the Hotel and Motel Association of New York City and twice, was a member of the Ad Hoc Committee that negotiated the union contracts for 250 New York City hotels. He has also served as chairman of the food and beverage committee for Holiday Inns. Jabara has also been able to lend his extensive business experience to various other organizations. He is currently, the president of the parish council at his Church, St. George’s Orthodox Church and is a member of the board of Danbury Hospital. He is also one of the founders and supporters of Dream Come True, a regional charity that directs its efforts at helping terminally ill children and their families.
