Hotel Online Special Report Harold J. Pierce and Cherlyn Logan Join Hilton Hotels Human Resources Department BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – June 30, 1999- Hilton Hotels Corp. announced the addition of Harold J. Pierce and Cherlyn Logan to the company’s human resources department.

Pierce has joined the department as vice president-benefits and compensation, and Logan will serve as vice president-human resources. They both report to Molly McKenzie-Swarts, senior vice president-human resources.

In his new position, Pierce will be responsible for providing leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration and communication of competitive, cost-effective benefits and compensation for the company. He will also oversee executive compensation, including incentive bonus plans, competitive pay and analysis, and design and valuation of positions.

With more than 24 years’ experience in human resources, Pierce began his career with R.J. Reynolds Inc. in Seattle as director, human resources, in 1975. In 1978, he joined Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. in Los Angeles in the same capacity. From 1985 to 1993, he served in a variety of human resources positions with Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. From 1994 to the present, Pierce has held the position of vice president, human resources, with Ingram Micro Inc. and Day Runner Inc., both located in Orange County.

Pierce earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from California State University, Long Beach, and a master of business administration degree at Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania.

In her new position, Logan will provide human resources services and counsel to hotel human resources departments and general managers. She will also work closely with the senior vice president of human resources and hotel operations on companywide initiatives and programs.

Logan began her career as a skills-training coordinator in 1970 with the University of Hawaii. From 1975 to 1983, she held a variety of human resources positions with the AFL-CIO Affiliates.

In 1983, she joined the Hilton family as the director of human resources for the Hilton Turtle Bay. She held the same position with the Hilton Hawaiian Village from 1988 to 1995, after which she became the area director of human resources for Hilton Resort Hawaii, making her a 16-year Hilton employee. A native of Hawaii, Logan attended Brigham Young University’s Hawaii campus and Hawaii Pacific University.

She is also a certified trainer and human resources management specialist.
