IBIZA July 18, 2013 – Urban Spaces Art Hotel has burst onto the scene as the first dedicated art hotel in Ibiza. Its ethos is to provide an incomparable service whilst offering its guests the opportunity to relax, immersed in the surroundings of incredible, original artwork.

Urban Spaces Art Hotel was inspired by the famous Carlton Arms Hotel and its history of urban art. The hotel is the vision of owner, Ira Francis, who realised his ambition when the 15-bedroom establishment, in an enviable heart of Ibiza Town location, opened its doors for the first time in the spring of 2013.

Being a small boutique hotel, Urban Spaces Art Hotel does not have the space to provide amenities such as a pool, gym or spa, however they have turned this into an advantage and created a completely new point of difference in terms of their approach. Where it cannot compete on facilities, it instead competes on individuality and uniqueness, through the provision of outstanding service to its guests (even packing their bags for them if they are too partied out to do it themselves) and, of course, through incomparably creative and sensual surroundings.

Each and every wall of the hotel has become a canvas for art. Ira Francis has collaborated with international artists such as INKIE, who was recently been named in the Arts and Culture Power List of Bristol; Lauren Baker, who has exhibited her work at Tate Modern, London Design Festival and in Harrods; and principal artist, Nicolas Dixon, who has exhibited in France, New York and most lately at a sell-out solo exhibition in the UK. Dixon has recently been deepening his footing in Ibiza, collaborating with Ibizan institution Pacha, to redesign their famous double cherry logo as part of their 40th birthday celebrations.

Francis sees his hotel as a never-ending project and continues to invite more artists to make their mark there.

Francis says, “It’s never going to be finished; the rooms are going to continue to morph and guests will be able to see the artists in action. This is not just a hotel, it’s an art project”.

The Urban Spaces art explosion in Ibiza is just another example of how the island continues to be a creative pull and wonderful backdrop for artists, designers and musicians.
