Westerville, Ohio – June 18, 2015 – The SmarTV Company, LLC (SmarTV) announces a powerful new 4K Series of set-top boxes that display 4K video content and include the company’s Forti-Fi™ secure wireless access point technology. The STB-4000 is the first of a series engineered by SmarTV parent company Exceptional Innovation to offer hoteliers powerful, affordable 4K set-top boxes to meet the variety of content delivery requirements based on the hotel’s existing infrastructure, network, and free-to-guest environments.

The STB-4000 set-top box has a 2.0 GHz quad-core ARM 9 CPU, 2 GB of RAM, 8 GB of flash storage, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi access point, and an MPI adapter for controlling hospitality TVs. In addition to its IPTV, Video on Demand and guest experience software, the set-top box offers optional OTT media streaming via Chromecast™. The STB-4000’s low-profile chassis is designed for use with today’s thin wall-mounted TVs. Technologies included in the STB-4000 are:

· Forti-Fi™ Secure Access Point

The internal 802.11ac Wireless Access Point provides a secure WPA2 wireless connection for guests for personal mobile devices such as phones, tablets, laptops, etc.

· Over-The-Top Streaming

The optional Chromecast media streaming device that installs inside the STB-4000 allows guests to wirelessly stream content from their own devices to the in-room TV using the secure Wi-Fi connection from the STB-4000. Guests can stream content through over 400 Chromecast-enabled apps from content providers and subscription-based services such as Netflix, Pandora, Hulu, WatchESPN, and HBOGo. They can also stream their own photos, music, and videos to the TV as well as view internet content from their PC via the Chrome™ browser.

· MPI, USB, IR and More

The built-in MPI port can control a variety of MPI-equipped guestroom Hospitality TVs. Two USB 2.0 ports provide USB connections for third-party devices such as room control, automation, door locks and mini-bars. The STB-4000 has HDMI CEC and IR Input and IR Output ports for controlling non-hospitality TVs and A/V peripherals as well as a composite A/V port for use with non-HDMI TVs. In addition to HDMI connection to the TV there is a SPDIF connection that allows the STB-4000 to send digital audio to a sound bar or AV receiver.
