WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 7, 2016) – The classic American eatery, 14K Restaurant and Lounge at The Hamilton Hotel D.C., has announced Nezzar Battle as its new Executive Chef. Chef Battle brings more than a decade of top-flight culinary expertise to his new role at 14K, having previously shaped menus at popular hotel and resort restaurants in some of the country’s favorite tourist hotspots.

“Chef Battle is very talented and we are excited to welcome him to The Hamilton Hotel D.C.,” said the hotel’s General Manager Sholeh K. Kia. “His wealth of experience with hospitality-focused properties, as well as his commitment to staying ahead of food trends and sourcing the best in seasonal ingredients make him the perfect fit for 14K.”

Battle enters the DC area food scene from Orlando, Florida, where his fresh approach to local flavor delighted diners at the Kessler Collection Bohemian Celebration Hotel. Prior to his tenure there, Battle oversaw kitchen operations at the 4-Diamond Squaw Creek Resort in Lake Tahoe, as well as at Silver Tree Hotel in Aspen, Colorado.

When it comes to pleasing the palates of Capital diners, Chef Battle has already found a good deal of inspiration to work with. Chef Battle stated, “I’ve been taking a look at what our guests have always responded to, and putting a bit of a twist on the traditional. There’s great opportunity here to introduce some new ideas that cater to our customer demographic like tapas-style shared plates, seasonal seafood, high-quality seasonal local produce, and creative nightly specials.”

Battle will launch an all-new Sunday Brunch at 14K in July, focusing on “tapas style” a la carte choices and increased variety. “I am well-aware of the popularity of Sunday brunch in the D.C. Metro area,” said Battle. “We will be providing our guests more of what they love in that regard, with a fresh spin and some delicious new flavors.”
