Jan. 17–Four Carlisle natives have opened a new hotel in the Carlisle area.

Robert Frey, his brother David Frey, William Morris Kronenberg and Robert Yentzer have jointly opened the newly constructed Microtel by Wyndham Carlisle at 15 Westminster Drive in South Middleton Township. Robert Frey is the managing partner.

The 80-room hotel features free WiFi, hot continental breakfast, a fitness room, a market, an executive boardroom and an outdoor pavilion featuring a natural gas grill and seating for 12. The rooms at the hotel feature queen-size beds, a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, a 40-inch television, a coffee maker, a hair dryer and more. The hotel will employ 20 people. Microtel by Wyndham Carlisle opened on Dec. 19 and a grand opening was held on Wednesday with the Carlisle Area Chamber of Commerce. The cost of the project was nearly six million dollars.

Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham has more than 340 hotels in North America and the Philippines and says it provides a "midscale experience at an economy price." Average daily room rates at Microtel by Wyndham Carlisle will run from $79 to $119. Wyndham has 19 brands including Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Ramada and Wyndham, according to its website.

The new Microtel Inn & Suites follows other new hotels in the region. Numerous new hotels are also coming to the region including several from the Hilton, Marriott, and Choice Hotels brands.
