JACKSON, NH (June 22, 2023) – Located in the majestic White Mountains of Jackson, NH, The Wentworth announced completion of a hotel-wide renovation as the peak summer season approaches. The $4 million dollar investment project touched all aspects of the 150-year-old inn including 61 guest rooms and suites, the lobby, exterior public and event spaces, new Alpine tavern, and more. These resort-style enhancements signify a new chapter for the storied hotel as it continues its tradition of providing gracious hospitality to visitors to Jackson, a hub for exploring the popular White Mountains region.

“As the new stewards of The Wentworth, we are committed to honoring its legacy and the significant role it has played over time in the Jackson community while shepherding it through a significant renovation and repositioning as the next phase in its evolution,” said, Jonathan Hoenig, managing partner and CEO of Atlantic Equity Partners, owner of the property. “We are dedicated to delivering a memorable and elevated guest experience that is only rivaled by the beauty and reverence of our White Mountains backdrop.”
The Wentworth was purchased by Atlantic Equity Partners, LLC in October 2021 from 30-plus year owner Ellie Koeppel. The inn is managed by Meyer Jabara Hotels (MJH). Renovation of the property began in fall 2022.

Led by the team at Elder & Ash of Newburyport, MA, the hotel redesign celebrates The Wentworth’s heritage dating back to 1869, with subtle nods to the hotel’s past, while infusing modern-day features and comforts highly sought-after by discerning travelers.

Justin Jabara, president of Meyer and Jabara Hotels (MJH) added, “The Wentworth’s transformation is more than a redesign. The activation of enhancements like a new casual dining venue and upgraded outdoor space for socializing create a richer guest experience, allowing the property to attract a broader audience of travelers with varied interests. It was a delicate balance of fortifying the new while remaining true to the inn’s history and salvaging all the elements beloved by loyal guests for many years.”
A Warm Welcome

Guests are greeted by an artfully remastered grand lobby accentuated by a deep color palette and mix of vintage and new furnishings in dark leathers and textured shades of grey, green, and brown. Original features maintained or restored include vibrant stained-glass windows, an antique phone booth and grand fireplace. Around the lobby and along the inn’s main staircase are framed vintage staff photographs and hotel memorabilia.

Alpine

Alpine, adjacent to the hotel lobby, surrounds guests with the inviting sounds of a convivial bar and modern tavern to unwind after a day of exhilarating outdoor pursuits.

The new bar and lounge feature handcrafted cocktails infused with fresh, seasonal ingredients and the largest selection of specialty bourbons and whiskeys in Mount Washington Valley. A more casual alternative to the hotel’s fine dining venue 1869 Room, Alpine serves up a Bavarian-inspired menu of tavern dishes. Menu highlights include crispy pork schnitzel sandwich and, in the colder months, fondue featuring The Wentworth’s signature blend of Emmental and Gruyere cheeses, a hint of white wine, garlic, and kirsch.

Modern Comforts in Refined and Renewed Guest Rooms and Suites

Each of the newly refurbished guest rooms and suites reflect a component of the inn’s history like original, handwritten property postcards from years past, while infusing modern-day features and comforts. With neutral hues accented by vivid earth tones like deep sage and crimson red, and dark wood furnishings that bring forth a contemporary feel, every guest room is carefully designed to honor the natural surroundings of the White Mountains.

The expansive, newly remodeled Spa Suites, which are the most popular amongst guests, feature a private outdoor hot tub to be enjoyed during all four seasons. The wood paneled hot tub room is equipped with flat screen TV, sound system and large open window. Each guest room floor now features a Galley equipped with a coffee maker and fridge fully stocked with a variety of beverages, all complimentary to guests. In the morning, pastries and house-made granola are available, and a selection of snacks are stocked throughout the afternoon. Baked from scratch, double chocolate chip cookies with brown butter and sea salt are delivered to the Galley each evening, and a seasonally rotated assortment of homemade ice cream with flavors like maple and blueberry can be found in the freezer.

A Majestic White Mountain Setting

Alpine Terrace brings the ambiance of the new tavern outdoors during the warmer seasons. Guests will find al fresco table seating along the deck and live music on select evenings. A new lower patio has been installed with outdoor fire pits and Adirondack chairs for lounging.

Next to Alpine Terrace is the White Mountain Pavilion, a new wedding and event tent with a transparent roof ceiling that draws in the serene, natural setting of the surrounding mountains. The White Mountain Pavilion is a permanent structure from May through the first week of November for weddings, corporate or special events. The sun filled or moonlit venue can accommodate up to 200 guests.

In the warmer months, guests are treated to a variety of outdoor amenities including a heated pool, clay tennis court, volleyball, croquet, badminton, ladder rung toss and cornhole. Access to mountain bikes, and electric bike rentals are also available. The property also offers a fitness area and spa services and is located steps away from the Wentworth Golf Club. In the winter, guests will find on-property ice skating and snowshoes, access to nearby downhill skiing facilities, and cross-country skiing trails at the neighboring Jackson Ski Touring Foundation.
