September 27, 2017 (LOS CABOS, MEXICO) – Montage Los Cabos has announced the appointment of Marco Ortlam to the position of General Manager. Ortlam will oversee all operations for the first international property in the Montage Hotels & Resorts portfolio. Located along the sweeping shores of Santa Maria Bay in Los Cabos, Mexico, the resort is scheduled to open in 2018.

With more than 23 years of experience in luxury hospitality, Ortlam joins Montage from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company where he most recently held the position of General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands – a role that positioned him as a strategic business leader, spearheading the team and all operations. Previously, he served as Hotel Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun, where as an integral member of the leadership team he contributed to the resort earning a coveted Five Star Award from Forbes Travel Guide in 2016 while maintaining its long-running Five Diamond status from AAA.
Ortlam worked his way up to Hotel Manager in Cancun, having previously held management- level positions with the property including Director of Operations, Director of Meetings & Special Events, and Director of Banquets. His tenure with Ritz-Carlton began as he assumed the role of Director of Restaurants at The Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Atlanta, where he later advanced to Assistant Director of Food & Beverage. Over 14 years total with The Ritz-Carlton company, Ortlam was part of many pre-opening teams including The Ritz-Carlton Almaty, Kazakhstan; The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain; and The Ritz-Carlton, Denver. His career also includes management positions with Four Seasons and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.
Originally from Germany, Ortlam is a graduate of the Hotel and Catering Management College in Bavaria, where he studied hotel management. He speaks four languages including German, English, Spanish and Russian.
