March 2014 issue one of three magazines up for B-to-B Travel category honors

SAN FRANCISCO – Meetings Focus was nominated for a prestigious Eddie Award for its March 2014 issue, in the category of Business-to-Business — Full Issue – Travel.

The Eddie Award, along with its design counterpart the Ozzie Award, is given annually to U.S. magazines and websites by FOLIO:, the leading publication serving the magazine media industry.

“Where else can you see the best in magazine media content and design from every corner of the industry?” said Bill Mickey, editorial director of FOLIO:. “Each year is more ground-breaking than the next-the work that’s showcased and honored in the Eddie and Ozzie Awards spotlights the immutable vibrancy of magazines on all platforms.”

The March issue of Meetings Focus featured a cover feature story on incorporating school-of-rock-style programs and other interactive entertainment-related offerings for teambuilding events.

“This story, and the entire issue, was a joy to produce, as it touched on two subjects near and dear to our hearts-meetings and rock ‘n’ roll!” said Meetings Focus Chief Content Director Tyler Davidson. “And, in fact, some of the older staffers got to dig deep into their past to emulate the iconic typography by 1980s-era heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden for the cover text, a flourish that surely put us over the top.”

The winners of both the Eddie and Ozzie awards will be announced Dec. 11 in New York City.
