HONOLULU – Feb. 9, 2015 – Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort is excited to welcome John Hawley to the Village ohana as the resort’s director of sales. Hawley brings to the resort more than 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry.

For the last five years, Hawley served as director of sales and marketing at Hilton Baltimore. His previous experience includes everything from conference centers to full-service convention hotels.

Hawley has held leadership roles at the Crystal Gateway Marriott where his teams won “Sales Team of the Quarter” three times during his tenure (Q2 1999, Q1 2000, Q4 2000). Hawley was also named Chairman’s Circle in 1999 and 2000. Additionally, Hawley also worked at the Renaissance in Washington, D.C. and the National Conference Center, where he led his team to “Sales Team of the Year” three years in a row. Complementing his hotel experience, Hawley also spent four years as executive director of business development for a marketing communication company that specialized in hospitality prior to joining Hilton.

“The wacky work mantra that I use with my team has always been – ‘It’s called going to WORK not going to FUN, so be productive and make work fun!,’ said Hawley. “Hawaii and Hilton Hawaiian Village will be a perfect place to excel at both,” he added.

An alumnus of the University of Missouri in Kansas City, Hawley holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

During his free time, he enjoys cooking and entertaining friends and is an avid boater. Within his circle of friends, Hawley and his family are known to host fabulous dinner and holiday parties. In addition to the get-togethers, having a passion for water sports, Hawley and his family are looking forward to taking advantage of the great island weather year round; enjoying Oahu’s beaches, hiking to waterfalls, and kayaking are on the top of the list.

“John’s wide-ranging experience in the hospitality industry will continue to enable us to further the mission of Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort,” said Tracy Walker, general manager, Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort. “We are excited to welcome him and his family to the island of Oahu and the resort.”
