Atlanta — November 9, 2016 : The DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Airport has recently undergone a full renovation, giving business and leisure travelers a refreshed property to visit, stay, and enjoy while in the Atlanta area. Huntington Hotel Group tapped two design teams to lead the renovation — Richmond, Virginia-based Distinctive Hospitality Designs (public spaces) and Dallas firm MatchLine Design Group (guestrooms). The seven-story building, which covers more than 151,000 square feet, now boasts a refreshed lobby, meeting areas, fitness center, bar and restaurant, and 220 guestrooms.

“The full hotel transformation pays homage to its surroundings, capturing the energy and evolution of the Nation’s busiest Airport and incorporating soft seating promoting the comforts of home,” says Carita Montgomery, the Director of Sales at The DoubleTree by Hilton Atlanta Airport. “The DoubleTree’s overall design offers a more open layout, created to reflect a chic, city-smart space where guests can balance business with leisure.”

MatchLine Design Group Principals Lesley Hughes Wyman and Tamara Ainsworth sought inspiration from the hotel’s surroundings. The duo incorporated artwork from local artisans and infused guestroom floor corridors and private rooms with imagery reminiscent of magnolias, the Fox Theater, and the city skyline. Corridor carpeting was selected from a collection designed by Farmboy Fine Arts in collaboration with Shaw. Guestroom bathrooms appear white and bright with quartz countertops and large electric mirrors. Bedroom areas offer guests comfortable slate grey sofas with blue piping adding a pop of color and intrigue while sitting to check emails or relax with a newspaper in hand.

“This renovation has sparked the attention of the local community and is the new buzz of the airport market,” says Montgomery. Since its reopening in September, the hotel has already hosted a number of meetings for new, high profile corporations.
