Former Ritz Carlton CIO recruited to continue exponential growth of RoamBoost DAS division

BOSTON, MASS. – FEBRUARY 17, 2015 – With demand for access to cellular networks for 3G voice and 4G data at an all-time high, the hospitality industry’s mobile engagement expert, RoamingAround, has recruited distinguished hospitality veteran and former Ritz Carlton Hotel Company CIO Pam Angelucci to head its RoamBoost division as Senior Vice President of Operations. RoamBoost is a scalable Distributed Antenna System (DAS) solution for hotels that solves in-building cellular coverage problems throughout a property or in targeted areas, such as the lobby, guestrooms, meeting rooms or basement.

Angelucci, who will continue to be based in Atlanta, is responsible for RoamBoost business development and success, from installation and project management to ongoing innovation and penetration into new markets.

“Because RoamBoost has grown exponentially year after year, with most growth compounded over the past 24 months, the timing was right to establish it as a standalone business unit with a dedicated executive leading the way and bringing new innovations to market,” said Michael Garvin, RoamingAround CEO. “Pam brings a wealth of industry expertise from former C-level roles and major consulting assignments at Morgans Hotel Group, Andre Balazs, West Paces and Capella. In searching for the right person to join RoamingAround, Pam’s knowledge base, teambuilding capabilities, and stellar reputation among her peers are just some of her exemplary attributes that set her above the rest. We are thrilled to have Pam join us to continue the explosive growth of RoamBoost.”

A proven IT professional, Angelucci has directed the information technology divisions for several leading companies, including Baker-Worthington and Whittle Communications, both in Knoxville, Tenn., and the Arizona Department of Commerce in Phoenix. She is a member of HFTP (Hospitality and Financial Technology Professionals), and was nominated in 2002 for the “Georgia CIO of the Year” award for dramatic reductions in costs associated with technology at the property level. Angelucci also is a certified facilitator for “Information Services as a Service Organization,” a national training course for IT professionals, and is a paid international public speaker on Business to IT Relationship Management topics.

Angelucci established Hospitality Technology Consulting in 2003. The Atlanta-based practice has assisted hotel brands, independent hotels, resorts and hotel management companies with all aspects of technology needs, selection and implementation. It was during her role as a consultant to the Gale South Beach hotel in Miami, Fla., that she became familiar with RoamBoost.

“Inadequate mobile coverage at a hotel isn’t just a problem for guests; it can also affect internal communications for management and staff. Such was the case at the Gale,” Angelucci said. “Gale owners Menin Hospitality asked for assistance on several projects, including fixing dead spots with interior mobile service. To address the problem quickly and cost effectively, I called on RoamingAround. The successful installation of RoamBoost was the start of this exciting new business venture.”

After the successful rollout of RoamBoost at the Gale, Angelucci began recommending RoamBoost to several of her other hotel customers.

“RoamBoost is really great technology that is answering a growing need in the industry,” she said. “I have always liked new technology, and this concept is phenomenal. When Michael Garvin approached me to fill this position, I saw it as an opportunity to be part of a company that is focused on bringing properties and guests one thing known to be needed now and in the future: a good cell signal.

“The number of hotels showing interest in RoamBoost today is astounding — yet not surprising,” she said. “I am eager to get started, and begin introducing the system to property managers, engineers, architects, and even designers who are instrumental in building the infrastructure for new construction projects. If your hotel has issues with cellular coverage, RoamBoost can help.”
