May 01– May 1–GREENSBORO — Developer Roy Carroll announced Wednesday his latest development will be a "game changer" for downtown Greensboro.

The Carroll Companies will make a $140 million investment in the development which will be the largest development in downtown Greensboro's history, according to Carroll who made the announcement on Twitter.

The project will be called Carroll South of the Ballpark and construction is expected to begin in 2020. The site is between Bellemeade and Friendly streets and will include a 160-room Aloft hotel, offices, apartments and retail spaces.

The office building will be 20 stories and have a conference center.

Among the retail spaces, Carroll said be believes the site will include a grocery store.
