St. Eustatius, Dutch Caribbean (September 1, 2023) – Golden Rock Resort, a cliffside nature and dive resort on the idyllic island of St. Eustatius (‘Statia’), announces the appointment of Anthony Dennis Reid as General Manager. Reid’s experience in management, economic development and nature conservation on the island will be fundamental in the evolution of Golden Rock Resort with its new PADI Dive Center set to debut early next year.

Nestled between St. Barth’s, St. Kitts and St. Maarten, Golden Rock Resort is Statia’s first upscale eco-resort offering approachable luxury and adventure. The 40-acre nature resort showcases 70 rooms, suites and standalone cottages with uninterrupted views of the ocean, pools and immaculate gardens beaming with over 130,000 flowers, plants, and trees. The newly established 20,000 ft² greenhouse provides fresh produce for the two restaurants in alignment with the property’s sustainability ethos.

“I’m excited to join the team and continue serving the community of Statia as well as our international guests.” said Anthony Dennis Reid, General Manager of Golden Rock Resort. “The resort is a catalyst for economic development and change in the community, and that is done while preserving the island’s rich cultural heritage and nature. I have always admired the values of Golden Rock Resort and am eager to contribute to its future.”

As an agronomic engineer with a master’s in business management, Reid’s career began with his work on the Fair Economic Development Program (FED program) in Suriname teaching new farming techniques to the Maroons living in the rainforest. In 2015 Reid migrated to St. Eustatius to manage the Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries before being appointed as the director of the Directorate of Economy Nature and Infrastructure in 2017. Reid was also appointed as territorial authorizing officer to the European Union and liaison for EU development projects in St. Eustatius

Reid’s expertise in management, infrastructure, conservation and sustainable agriculture will prove integral in maintaining Golden Rock Resort’s environmental commitments and supporting the thriving ecosystem of fauna and flora throughout the grounds.

Established in 2021 and expanded in phases over the last two years, Reid will oversee the evolution of Golden Rock Resort with the opening of a new state-of-the-art PADI Dive Center in early 2024. A private indoor cinema, a paddle court and two pickleball courts will also be added to the resort’s facilities.

Golden Rock Resort is thrilled to welcome Anthony Dennis Reid and looks forward to the exciting new initiatives and improvements he will bring to the property. With his guidance, the resort is set to continue delivering the highest level of service and creating memorable experiences for guests.
