Additionally, Piedra was previously the Chairperson for Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District, and formed part of the Marketing Committee for Broward Convention and Visitor Bureau.

Located in the heart of South Beach, the iconic Shelborne hotel reopened its doors in September 2014 after an extensive facelift, which included upgrades such as completely redone guest rooms designed by Richard Mishaan; an apothecary-themed “drawing room” where the historic lobby once stood; a library lounge; a transformed entrance; more flexible indoor and outdoor meeting spaces; and a new Blue Harmony® Spa, designed by Meg Sharpe. The property’s rich history dates back to 1940s when the new hotel was a celebrity hotspot. Design master Morris Lapidus updated the hotel in the 1950s.
