COSTA RICA (April 5, 2023) – Since the nature-inspired resort opened in 2014, guests have flocked to El Mangroove to explore the unparalleled natural beauty of the Gulf of Papagayo. That’s if they could book a spot at the all-suite property. Now, after a thoughtful, six-month renovation, the retreat is even more welcoming. Thirty-six new suites have been added to the property, which rests on 17 acres of beachfront forest, surrounded by mangroves. While they increase the capacity of El Mangroove by a third, the new suites blend seamlessly into the environment, as the entire resort was designed around the existing Guanacaste and Guacimo trees.

Along with the new suites, existing common areas were completely transformed. The main attraction is the new family-friendly relaxation area, the SI&P Zone, which gets its name from the idea of taking a “sip” of the pura vida lifestyle. With four pools, a children’s pool, a pool bar called El Shack, and four cabanas, each fronted by a lounge-bed platform that extends into the pool, the SI&P Zone offers a variety of relaxing options to sample.

There’s also a new Mediterranean restaurant, Malu, which features dishes made from fresh, locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, with an emphasis on legumes, fruit, vegetables, and seafood. Malu joins the property’s existing dining options: Makoko, which serves Costa Rican and international dishes, and the more casual Matiss. All resort restaurants follow a zero-km philosophy, serving food that traveled a minimum distance to ensure freshness and sustainability.

With so much on-site to enjoy, the only question is, which of the new accommodations categories to stay in while making the most of all El Mangroove has to offer? The 36 new suites include:

  • Habitat Superior: Four airy suites featuring a king bed, a sofa bed in the living space, and a private terrace with a hammock surrounded by lush gardens.
  • Root Deluxe/Superior: Four spacious suites that offer a king bed and a sofa bed in the living space. The Deluxe options feature a furnished balcony and the Superior suites have an outdoor terrace with hammock.
  • Resort Suites: An enhanced version of the original Bark and Nesto Suites, the new Resort Suites boast an integrated space design that offers both comfort and privacy, allowing families seeking connecting rooms to have comfortable direct access without additional doors. There are 16 Resort Suites with King beds and 12 with two Queen beds, one of which is wheelchair accessible.
