Slated to debut September 2022, the historic resort will soon be home to a 10,000 square foot meeting and event center and 43 new, luxurious oceanfront suites

ISLAMORADA, FL (June 2, 2022) – Cheeca Lodge & Spa, the iconic 27-acre independent, luxury resort has announced major resort enhancements including a 10,000 square foot event center, to be named The Islamorada Ballroom, and 43 newly constructed oceanfront suites. In combination with the existing 6,300 square feet of meeting and event space the resort will now offer more than 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a total of 244 guest rooms and suites.

The Islamorada Ballroom, which will be the largest in the Upper Florida Keys, will host corporate meetings, social events and other group functions. Sitting just north of the resort’s main lodge, the center will boast wide-open spaces, steps away from the ocean, ideal for dream weddings, receptions, inaugural balls, and corporate events. With over 10,000 square-feet of space, The Islamorada Ballroom will feature ceiling heights of 17.5 feet, accommodating up to 1,000 guests for receptions and 788 for banquet-style dinners. Retractable walls will allow for three breakout rooms for smaller events and functions. Surrounding the center is a wrap-around foyer area, where views of the Atlantic Ocean will provide the ideal backdrop for coastal-inspired receptions and exhibits.

Capturing the charm of the Florida Keys while also highlighting the property’s rich history, the seamless blend of oceanside luxury and casual comfort will be weaved into all elements of the center’s design. Decor will embrace the bodies of water that surround it with rich hues of blue and turquoise complemented by the warm earth tones of sand, tan and beige.

Debuting alongside the event center are 43 luxury oceanfront suites, located in the northernmost building at the resort. Offering king and double queen accommodations, these suites will offer the highest in luxury experiences for Cheeca’s guests. Each suite will feature more than 550 square feet of tropical elegance with spectacular ocean and island facing views. Each suite will feature floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open to an expansive private lanai with open-air spa tubs, a signature of the resort’s lodge suites.

Design elements will continue the nature-inspired narrative that begins from the moment guests arrive at the resort. A warm, neutral palate of soft taupe and whites with infusions of coral, light blues and teals will create a relaxing environment inspired by a day aside the ocean.  Natural and organic textures will complement each suite’s central focus point, the Atlantic Ocean.  Nightly rates for the luxury oceanfront suites will start at $569 per night.

“This is a monumental moment in the evolution of Cheeca Lodge & Spa,” said Paul Scott, General Manager of Cheeca Lodge & Spa. “With our new meetings and event center and oceanfront suites, we are very excited to welcome an entire new generation of travelers, from those celebrating life’s most memorable milestones to those simply seeking a new and refreshed tropical vacation experience. Our guests, both new and returning, are in for a luxurious getaway like nothing they have experienced before.”
