Jan. 05–A downtown Portland hotel will close for two months for a major renovation.
Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants plans to spend upwards of $10 million on a facelift for its Hotel Vintage Plaza, located at 422 S.W. Broadway. The hotel will close Jan. 12 and reopen March 17 as the Hotel Vintage-Portland.
The renovations work will include the guest room, a redesigned two-floor lobby and a new game room for guests and private events.
The hotel’s restaurant, Pazzo Ristorante, will also close during the renovation and reopen with a new lobby bar.
Hotels have recently seen a post-recession recovery in business and personal travel. That’s led to strong investment in existing hotels and several proposals for new downtown hotels.
