Hotel Online News for the Hospitality Executive Vienna, Austria's Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Completes First Phase of Two-Year Restorations

VIENNA, May 6, 2013 – The recent unveiling of 10 new suites and guest rooms at Hotel Bristol, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Vienna, marks the start of a series of meticulous restorations led by acclaimed interior designer, Pierre-Yves Rochon at the iconic hotel. Owned by Sacher Group and managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT) under The Luxury Collection brand, Hotel Bristol is undergoing an extensive multi-million Euro, two-year restoration programme inspired by Viennese fin-de-siècle flair and contemporary Art Deco style. The completion of the first phase of the restoration additionally includes expanded banquet space on the Garden Floor.

The restoration is scheduled for completion by year end and will also include the re-design of the hotel’s ground floor areas – the lobby, Restaurant Bristol, the hotel’s signature restaurant, and the intimate Bar Bristol. This extensive restoration is part of a strategic plan to enable the legendary hotel to meet the demands of luxury travellers, as well as to return Hotel Bristol to its original splendour, timeless sophistication and luxurious noblesse.

Exquisite Event Space with Inspiring Garden Views The first phase of the restoration focused on the enhancement and expansion of the Garden Floor, unveiling five elegant banquet rooms with inspiring views. The Garden Floor features an elegant black and white foyer alit with crystal chandeliers, as well as exquisite accent pieces that underline the hotel’s Art Deco heritage. Hosting up to 350 people and ideal for celebrations and intimate events, the banquet rooms feature state-of-the-art technology and paintings of historical landmarks such as Gloriette and Schönbrunn Palace Park.

Bristol Suites: A Loge Overlooking the Opera 10 new rooms and suites, including five magnificent Bristol Suites, have been added on the mezzanine floor of the hotel. Spanning between 60 and 75 square metres (645 to 807 square feet), the Bristol Suites offer breath-taking views of the Opera House or Vienna’s thriving Ring Boulevard through panorama floor-to-ceiling windows. Bathed in warm shades of ochre, black and white, the luxurious Art Deco-influenced interiors feature exquisite marble in the entrance areas and bathrooms, as well as elegant black wooden floors in the salon and bedroom.

Strategic Restorations to Reinforce Hotel Bristol’s Elegant Viennese Flair and Charm “Since 1892, Hotel Bristol has been recognised as a symbol of Viennese hospitality,” commented Gerald Krischek, General Manager, Hotel Bristol. “Bringing back details of the Viennese heritage during this restoration underlines our commitment to return the historic hotel to its original grandeur. We want to treasure the unique ambiance of Hotel Bristol while renewing the facilities to prepare us for the future, as we continue to offer unparalleled service and authentic travel experiences to our guests.”

Celebrated interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon captured the essence of the hotel’s heritage and re-interpreted the historic Art Deco style to create an authentic experience for today’s global explorers. “I was inspired by the fin-de-siècle era and the Vienna Secession, which was at its peak when the hotel opened,” said Pierre-Yves Rochon. “My vision is to bring the Bristol back to its original style and charm as the Art Deco jewel of the city.”

Situated next to the Vienna State Opera, Hotel Bristol is the place in the Austrian capital where Viennese society as well as global travellers and influencers have gathered to experience the city’s social and cultural scene since its opening in 1892. Today, the six-storey Hotel Bristol offers 127 rooms and 23 suites, including the impressive 350-square-metre Prince of Wales Suite and the new Bristol Suites.

The renovation of Hotel Bristol, Vienna, is part of a larger strategy to invest in the restoration of the most celebrated Luxury Collection Hotels in Europe, enhancing historic icons while unlocking indigenous experiences of these desirable destinations to the global explorer. Last year, the brand reopened two celebrated hotels in Spain: Hotel Maria Cristina in San Sebastian and Hotel Alfonso XIII in Seville. In February this year, The Gritti Palace re-opened its doors after a 15-month restoration and this will soon be followed by Prince de Galles in Paris on 16 May, 2013.
