Hotel Online Special Report Kevin Wu Opens Royal Star at The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas LAS VEGAS – Aug. 16, 1999–Popular California restauranteur Kevin Wu, known for his Royal Star Seafood Restaurant in Santa Monica, brings another version of Royal Star, a distinctive Chinese restaurant, to The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas.

The restaurant will be open daily for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

“Royal Star at The Venetian was set up to cater to all dining tastes,” Wu said, “from a quick dim sum snack to those who want to spend an entire evening in an ornate private dining room eating like the rulers of Ancient Cathay—and of course everyone in-between.” Dim sum service is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and dinner service is from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Kevin Wu’s Royal Star offers cuisine from all regions of China, featuring hallmark Catonese and Mandarin specialities as well as a vast array of seafood cusine from live tanks. Royal Star’s unique flair can be seen in the best of Hong Kong-style cuisine, showcasing seafood dishes so abundant in that Southern Chinese tradition and authentic tableside dim sum cart service.

Royal Star’s famous dim sum menu and service, unmatched anywhere in its creativity and quality, is a major feature of this restaurant in Las Vegas.

Kevin Wu is one of the up-and-coming names in Chinese cuisine. Born in Taiwan, he spent 15 years garnering experience in some of the top Hong Kong-style restaurants in Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and South America before moving to the United Sates and graduating from the University of Southern California. Wu’s strict adherence to traditional Chinese dishes, prepared to the highest standards while at the same time catering to Western tastes, is the foundation of Royal Star’s menu. Wu has led the charge on Las Angeles’ Westside with the creation of Royal Star in Santa Monica.

“I can attribute most of my success in restaurant management to the ability to draw together a talented and able team whose goal is to create excellence,” Wu stated.

To ensure his continued success, Wu has staffed four in-house master chefs who combine ancient traditions with modern creativity at the Royal Star at The Venetian. “Such creativity is an ongoing process and will be continued with subtle, seasonal changes to the menu,” Wu explained, “that will correspond with invited, internationally known Chinese chefs who will visit on a regular schedule.” To complement the menu, there is a full wine list with European and American selections and that features Asian wines, sake, tea service and full bar.
