Hotel Online Special Report England’s Tatler Magazine Votes Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Kuda Huraa, Hotel of the Year February 1999 – Tatler presents an annual round up of the finest travel experiences worldwide in the exclusive Travel Guide each January. This 100-page supplement names the best 101 hotels around the globe gauged according to service, attention to detail, wonderful food and decoration.

According to Tatler, “Kuda Huraa is all cool, clean lines, and Four Seasons has sprinkled their stardust of attention to detail over it. It has all the elements about which we fantacise during the dog days: rooms that are private water bungalows built on stilts over the lagoon; beach suites with their own gardens and thatched roofs, because we love expensive simplicity. There’s nothing so persuasive as something resembling a hut to reassure true Brits that they’ve arrived – at a haven of exclusive understatement.”

The Resort was also presented with the Gold Palm Resort Award by PADI. This honour is only given to a select few dive centres around the world annually. The classification is presented to those that excel in providing quality services to travelling divers. A Gold Palm Resort offers accommodations, diving and snorkelling excursions from a dive boat, and a complete diver education program. In addition, a Gold Palm Resort is committed to ensuring the utmost in environmental awareness, safety, and above all, customer satisfaction.

Healing Waters

As part of the overall US$4 million Resort renovation, plans are now underway to create a free-standing spa situated on its own private island.

Six spacious, cream-coloured Spa Pavilions will be positioned on stilts over the water along the outer perimeter of the island spa. Each unit features an outdoor courtyard and separate spa pavilion topped by natural thatched roofs. Arabic and Moorish detailing on doorways and windows adds to the exotic design. Other unique features include an open-air yoga and meditation platform directly facing the ocean for private instruction and individual training. Exotic regional massage applications, indulgent aromatherapy treatments and enticing body elixirs will be featured. With the emphasis on the sea and the use of salt water, innovative treatments will include the use of nutrient-rich sea water and restorative ocean elements. The Spa premieres December 1999.
