Hotel Online News for the Hospitality Executive By Mark Glover, The Sacramento BeeMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

March 05, 2013–The corporation that owns Embassy Suites Lake Tahoe — Hotel & Ski Resort has announced the hotel will operate as an independent property with a new management company as of April 1.

On that date, Embassy’s affiliation will go away, and the new site name will be the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel.

PHR Management, Inc., an affiliate of Ken Corp. Ltd., the Japan-based ownership group, will assume management of the hotel. PHR said it will retain the hotel’s 220 employees.

Ken Corp. said it is also planning to invest $5 million to $7 million in property renovations, starting this summer.

John Steinbach, a former executive with the property, will be return as general manager, a position he held from 2004 to 2010.

The nine-story, all-suite hotel is in South Lake Tahoe, just yards west of the California-Nevada border.
