Douglas Smolinski today announced a restructuring of the Capitol Hotel Group (CHG). The company has redefined corporate support staff duties to improve the company’s commitment to its properties and begin a more aggressive acquisitions strategy.

“Our mission is to create more responsive leadership that can quickly and effectively assist our properties’ general managers with their operations,” said Smolinski. “To do this, we have placed the most talented people at the positions that will make them most effective at their jobs.”

Smolinski announced the following appointments:

Jack Stere – Director of Hotel Operations: Stere will be responsible for management of CHG hotel properties in Minnesota and Tennessee. He has accumulated 15 years experience in operations and finance during his previously employment with DoubleTree Hotels, Hilton and The Hershey Entertainment and Resort Company,.

Philip Capizzi – Director of Asset Management/Acquisitions: Employed by CHG since 1988, Capizzi has been involved with most aspects of the company’s operations and developed a strong background in asset management and acquisitions. Capizzi will be responsible for CHG’s asset management portfolio, including properties in Florida, Arizona, Illinois and Minnesota as well as identifying hotels for addition to the CHG portfolio.

Gail Tristano – Director Human Resources/Risk Management: Employed by CHG for six years, Tristano will be responsible for overseeing all human resources and risk management functions at CHG properties in Minnesota and Tennessee.

Howard Henry – Director Audit/Financial Controls: Employed by CHG since 1997, Henry will be responsible for standardizing and auditing all aspects of accounting, cash handling and financial controls at all CHG managed hotels. Previously, Henry was employed by CHG as controller of the Holiday Inn Express in Nashville.

Kim Deffinbaugh – Executive Administrative Assistant: Employed by CHG for 11 years, Deffinbaugh will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the CHG office in Rockville and provide assistance to the acquisitions effort and management of hotel operations.

Located in Rockville, MD, Capitol Hotel Group provides property management and asset management services to hotel owners, lenders and investors. The company’s experience includes management and evaluation services with major franchise hotels including Hyatt, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott, Radisson, Embassy Suites, Days Inn, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites.

Capitol Hotel Group grew out of the hotel activities of CRI, Inc., an international real estate investment firm. After acquiring several hotel properties, CRI formed Capitol Hotel Group to apply the owner orientation of asset management to the operational property management of hotels.
