Approximately half of all US adults own a smartphone, according to a survey published by the Pew Internet Project earlier this year, and that figure rises to nearly three-quarters among adults between the ages of 25 and 34. Meanwhile, TripAdvisor reports that one in four travelers consider their tablet an essential carry-on item.
