Orlando, Fla. (December 12, 2017) ― The Embassy Suites Orlando – Downtown has begun an extensive, $7 million-plus renovation. BayStar Hotel Group, which manages the hotel, is overseeing the transformation.

“Every aspect of the hotel—the atrium, restaurant, bar, patios, pool and sundeck, fitness center, meeting rooms, and all 167 two-room suites and baths—will be completely redone,” said General Manager Frank Fry, noting that the hotel’s WiFi system just underwent an $85,000 upgrade to increase speed and bandwidth.

The work will create an additional 2,500 square feet of meeting space, including two board rooms equipped with the latest audiovisual equipment. Plans call for enhancing a tree-canopied patio that opens onto Central Avenue to create a new, casual downtown venue for business mixers and other functions.

“Altogether we’ll have 12,400 square feet of flexible meeting space, which will be a major benefit to the Downtown Orlando area,” said Crystal Smith, sales director.

Dramatic changes will greet guests upon entering the hotel with individual registration pods replacing a large registration desk. New flooring, lighting, and wall coverings will reflect the hotel’s migration from earth tones to tropical colors, predominately blues, greens and aqua. Guest rooms will be outfitted with new furniture, carpeting, appliances, 50-inch televisions, and digital locks that interface with smartphones. New vanities, mirrors, tubs, and tile will be installed in the bathrooms.

Construction is taking place one floor at a time for minimal impact on guests, and the hotel will continue all services during the work. Renovations should be complete in the first quarter of 2018.
