Hotel Online Special Report Reggie Shiu, Richard Kaldor Among New Appointments for Accor Asian Operations 5 October 2000: Accor has announced changes to its senior management structure in Asia to best take advantage of opportunities in post-economic crisis Asia.

The management changes, announced today by Accor’s Deputy Chairman Asia Pacific, Jochen Dobel, include the following appointments:

  • Reggie Shiu – Senior Vice President Operations, based in Bangkok, with additional direct responsibilities for Korea;
  • Richard Kaldor – Vice President China, based in China and to be in charge of development, human resources, technical services and sales and marketing. Mr Kaldor was previously Director of Operations for Vietnam;
  • Gerhard Zimmer – Director of Operations China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, based in China. Previously Mr Zimmer was Director of Operations China;
  • Oswald Pichler – Director of Operations Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, based in Bangkok. Previously, Mr Pichler was Director of Operations Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore;
  • Patrick Basset – Director of Operations Singapore, India, Malaysia, Philippines, based in Bangkok. Previously Mr Basset was Director Special Projects;
  • Gerard Guillouet – Director of Operations Indonesia, based in Jakarta. Mr Guillouet is currently General Manager of Hotel Ibis Slipi in Jakarta and one of Accor’s most experienced General Managers in Indonesia
  • Georges Sirguey, previously Director of Operations for Korea, is returning to Europe to take up a management position with Accor;
  • Michel Molliet, previously Director of Operations Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos, is to move to another position in Accor’s Asia Pacific region. The new role will be announced shortly when details are finalised.

Commenting on the appointments, Mr Dobel said: “The new structure reflects the changes that have taken place in the Asian economy and hotel sector since the start of the Asian economic crisis three years ago.

“The new structure places greater focus on operational priorities, with the strengthening of our team in China emphasising our recent growth in the country.”

Mr Dobel said the changes would be implemented over the next three months and would be operational by the start of January, 2001.
