Hotel Online Special Report Number of Business Travelers Making Reservations Online Doubles in Six Months WILTON, Conn., March 28, 2000 – Twice as many business travelers and administrative assistants are using the Internet mainly to make airline, hotel, and rental car reservations compared with six months ago, according to a comprehensive business travel study conducted on the Internet by Greenfield Online. Airline reservations are the most common travel arrangements made online by either the business traveler or an administrative assistant. The gap is narrowing significantly between executives making plane reservations online (28 percent) versus over the telephone (33 percent).

Among the 811 executives surveyed, United Airlines, Embassy Suites, and Hertz had the highest percent of satisfied customers within their respective categories. Interestingly, the most-used service was not always tops in terms of satisfaction. Here’s how airlines, hotels, and rental car companies used by business travelers rate with people who travel at least once a month on business:

Airlines % of Users Extremely/Very Satisfied Use Airline United 70% 28% Southwest 66% 23% Delta 65% 34% Hotels % of Users Extremely/Very Satisfied Use Airline Embassy Suites 89% 22% Doubletree 85% 15% Marriott 83% 39% Car Rental % of Users Extremely/Very Satisfied Use Car Rental Hertz 79% 38% National 78% 27% Enterprise 75% 29%
