Hotel Online Special Report California Tourism Enters Into Partnership for Representation in Australia and Brazil SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 9, 2000 – During her keynote remarks at the opening of the, California Travel Market in San Jose today, Caroline Betata, executive director of the California Travel and Tourism Commission (CTTC), announced that California Tourism has entered into a unique partnership for travel trade representation in Australia and Brazil.

Joining forces with the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor and Convention Bureau, Mammoth Lakes Visitors Bureau, San Diego Convention and Visitors Bureau, and San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau, California Tourism and its partners will be represented by Integra Tourism Marketing in Australia and South Marketing International in Brazil. The task of the respective travel trade representatives is to increase awareness of California Tourism and its partners and the California product.

“By having year-round representation in Australia and Brazil, California will be able to bolster its position as a leading travel destination for visitors from these important markets,” stated Caroline Beteta, executive director of the CTTC. “California Tourism’s involvement into this unique marketing partnership was made possible by utilizing new funds raised through an industry-wide assessment,” Beteta added.

Duties performed by Integra Tourism Marketing and South Marketing International on behalf of the California tourism partnership include:

  • development of new products;
  • responding to travel trade requests;
  • participation in trade exhibitions;
  • responding to media inquiries; and
  • development and oversight of consumer fulfillment.

The three-year contract with both firms is renewable annually and was effective January 1, 2000. California Tourism now has overseas travel trade representation offices in five countries, with Australia and Brazil joining existing offices in Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom. An estimated six million overseas visitors travel to California annually, generating more than $5.6 billion in travel expenditures.
