Aug. 31–Shaner Hotel Holdings’ plans for a hotel at Harrisburg International Airport got a boost when the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority approved having its staff enter into a ground lease with the State College-based company.

Shaner wants to develop a hotel connected by a pedestrian bridge to the airport’s passenger terminal complex. The hotel would have about 120 rooms, meeting space, a restaurant and bar, the authority said in a press release Monday.

“We’re very excited to be able to offer Harrisburg International Airport travelers the convenience and amenities of a quality hotel,” Plato Ghinos, Shaner’s president, said in the release. “We believe this will be a great complement to travelers and local businesses of the surrounding area.”
