Scan2PMS Offering Added Benefits including Traveler’s Visa and Business Cards "We originally developed Scan2PMS based on customer's requests to eliminate photocopying headaches, increase staff productivity, and improve check in," said Bridget Werba, TTI VP of Business Development and Marketing. "However, its benefits are far outreaching what we initially imagined. Scan2PMS customers have been commended by local law enforcement for having digital copies of guest identification available, saying 'it shows the hotel is running a safe and reputable business.' Today, with terrorism and government sanctions on the rise, hoteliers will need to do even more to protect themselves and their guests. Scan2PMS is a very simple and affordable way to provide the highest levels of asset protection. “New to Scan2PMS this month is the ability to capture traveler’s Visas and Business Cards," Werba said. "Many foreign governments require hotels to capture an international traveler's Visa information, albeit by photocopying or digital scan. Scan2PMS can save hotels time and money by automating this process. Similarly, our customers told us they needed a reliable way to capture guests' e-mail addresses. So we enhanced Scan2PMS to include functionality to read business cards. This gives our customers the ability to stay in touch with guests via pre- and post-stay e-marketing campaigns. Additionally, it gives even more detailed information about the guest, such as company name and title, whereas before the guest may only provide their home information during registration.” Scan2PMS Becoming A Safe Bet for Casinos and Hotels In 2007, the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) issued Bulletin No. 2007-3 “Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) Compliance,” explaining that casinos should comply with OFAC regulations. Yet, three years later, many gaming properties still do not understand the specific requirements of the regulation as they relate to casino products and services. The NIGC stated in the Bulletin, “We urge all Tribal gaming operators and regulators to take this matter seriously and include OFAC requirements as part of their overall compliance program.” Bottom line, any gaming establishment or casino that accepts money on behalf of a foreign national or transfers money to high-risk countries needs to be compliant with the OFAC in order to protect them from unknowingly supporting identified criminal suspects. The OFAC publishes a list of "Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons" or the "SDN" list which includes more than 3,500 names of companies and individuals connected with the sanctions targets. "Because casinos do significant business with foreign travelers, that segment of the industry is particularly at risk," said Alex Lerner, TTI Chief Technology Officer. "Therefore, TTI has purchased the ongoing access rights to the OFAC blocked-persons list and is making it possible for casinos, hotels and hospitality related groups to cross-reference guest data captured by Scan2PMS with names on the SND list. This is our way of helping owners and operators to be OFAC complaint while protecting their assets and the reputations of their brand." Scan2PMS comes with a number of hardware options including: driver’s license, two-sided driver’s license with barcode reading, large document, and combination driver’s license/passport scanners. Additionally, TTI has added a portable scanner which reads passports Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) containing the travelers name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, sex, passport expiration date and more.
