WASHINGTON - Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration's National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO) announced that the United States welcomed nearly 77 million international visitors into the country, who collectively spent a record-setting $251.4 billion experiencing the United States in 2017, a two percent increase when compared to 2016. U.S. Travel and Tourism Satellite Account Shows Real Spending Down in Fourth Quarter 2016

WASHINGTON - Real spending (output) on travel and tourism turned down in the fourth quarter of 2016, decreasing at an annual rate of 3.3 percent after increasing 3.7 percent (revised) in the third quarter according to new statistics released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In contrast, real gross domestic product (GDP) increased 1.9 percent in the fourth quarter after increasing 3.5 percent in the third. International Visitation to U.S. Down Three Consecutive Months with 8% Decrease from April 2015

The U.S. Department of Commerce today announced that 6.0 million international visitors(1)(2) traveled to the United States in April 2016, down eight percent (-8.3%) from April 2015. With this decline, April is the third consecutive monthly decrease in total U.S. visits. In April 2016 the top inbound markets continued to be Canada and Mexico.
