Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo in Montevideo, Uruguay

Expected to Open Late in 2014, Property will Form Part of Montevideo Shopping Center,
Uruguay's First Mall, Developed by Estudio Luis E. Lecueder

MCLEAN, Va. – September 26, 2012
– Hilton Worldwide today announced the signing of a management agreement to operate a Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Montevideo, Uruguay – the country’s capital and financial center.  The new-build 168-room Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo, expected to open in late 2014, represents the brand’s eighth development project in Latin America and Hilton Worldwide’s first managed hotel in Uruguay.

Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will form part of Montevideo Shopping Center - Uruguay’s first mall, which was developed and is managed by Estudio Luis E. Lecueder.  Hilton Worldwide will operate the hotel under the terms of a multi-year management agreement as part of its growth efforts in Latin America.

“We are thrilled about the signing of this Hilton Garden Inn management agreement in Montevideo, Uruguay.  As part of our expansion throughout Latin America, we have always recognized the importance of establishing a presence in this key Latin American city,” said Danny Hughes, senior vice president, Caribbean, Mexico and Latin America for Hilton Worldwide.  “We couldn’t be happier to work with Estudio Lecueder, and look forward to welcoming travelers to experience all that Montevideo has to offer.”

Forming part of the award-winning, mid-priced brand that delivers high quality and value, the Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will be approximately 20 minutes from the international airport.  The hotel will be located inside the Montevideo Shopping Mall and directly across from the World Trade Center – both of which were developed by Estudio Lecueder.  Perfect for both business and leisure travelers, Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will offer guests first-class accommodation in the upscale Pocitos neighborhood.

“We continue to grow the Hilton Garden Inn brand globally and have had a dedicated focus on introducing the brand in Latin America,” said Adrian Kurre, global head, Hilton Garden Inn.  “Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo is a perfect example of taking our brand to new markets and being the first choice for travelers seeking upscale and affordable accommodation throughout the region.”

Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will feature 168 guest rooms, all with the Garden Sleep System® allowing guests to adjust the firmness and softness of the bed, ergonomic Mirra® chair by Herman Miller, LCD high-definition, flat-screen television, easy-to-set alarm clock with MP3 connectivity, a spacious work desk, and a “hospitality center” that features a mini refrigerator and coffee maker.

Dining options will include a full service restaurant offering freshly prepared full, cooked-to-order breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a lobby lounge.  The hotel will also feature the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® shop with a selection of delicious readymade meals, beverages and snacks.

Recreational facilities will boast an outdoor swimming pool and a complimentary fitness center featuring cardio and strength training equipment, large locker rooms, and Stay Fit Kits® that can be checked out from the hotel front desk and enable guests to do yoga, Pilates and core workouts in the privacy of their guestroom or in the workout facility.

Travelers to Hilton Garden Inn Montevideo will also have access to comfortable and efficient meeting space, and signature Hilton Garden Inn brand attributes such as complimentary Wi-Fi and a 24-hour business center.

The hotel will participate in Hilton HHonors®, the only guest rewards program that allows members to earn Points & Miles® for the same stay and redeem points for free nights with No Blackout Dates at more than 3,800 hotels worldwide.

Having experienced a period of economic growth and development, Montevideo is the country’s economic and financial center and home to some of the most important business headquarters in the country - making business travel an important source of tourism.   Leisure visitors also have an array of options in the city, with everything from the Ciudad Vieja historic area complete with museums, art galleries, stunning architecture and the Mercado del Puerto, to Plaza Independencia surrounded by the Solis Theatre and the Palacio Salvo – all major tourist sights in the city.  Montevideo is served by international flights including a less than one hour flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Hilton Worldwide currently has one hotel in Uruguay – Conrad Punta del Este – and 51 hotels and resorts in Latin America.  The company is expanding throughout the region with a robust development pipeline that includes properties in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Uruguay.
