WHITE PLAINS, NY, May 15, 2000� �Restaurant Futurists,� a revolutionary,
two-and-a-half day conference for food, restaurant and hospitality professionals,
will debut in New York at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant
ShowÒ (IH/M&RS) in November 2000. This event, which will be
held annually in conjunction with the Show, will feature 15 educational
sessions � forecasting consumer and business trends impacting the culinary
industry � along with after-hours special events and networking opportunities
for attendees.
�Restaurant Futurists� will offer attendees solid business information � with topics including foodservice technology, human resource issues, consumer food and dining trends, restaurant design and marketing strategies. The program also will include a dose of �celebrity sizzle� � with presenters representing industry visionaries, trade and consumer media, star-powered chefs and hospitality designers and consumer forecasters. Social and networking events will round-out the events. Highlights will include two Wine Tasting Receptions �one featuring Hudson Valley wines and the other featuring Italian wines � and two Sampling Receptions � �Fresh Taste of New York� and �Taste of the Hudson Valley� � offering tastings from some of New York City�s hot new restaurants and New York State�s best restaurants. �We are delighted to extend the Show�s appeal to restaurant and culinary professionals through the �Restaurant Futurists� program,� said Philip D. Robinson, general manager of the IH/M&RS. �While the Show�s culinary exhibits and Culinary Resource Center offerings continue to expand, we look to programs such as this to further enhance the Show�s value to our attendees.� Formerly presented every five years in various locations, �Restaurant Futurists,� now will be presented annually in conjunction with the IH/M&RS. The first annual edition of �Restaurant Futurists� will be presented by the IH/M&RS, sponsored by Freshnex.com, hosted by Food Arts Magazine and produced by Bill Primavera of Primavera Public Relations, a firm with broad experience in restaurant/hospitality marketing and special events. According to Primavera, �We feel that we�ve found an excellent home to produce our event under the IH/M&RS �umbrella.� The Show serves as an excellent forum for culinary professionals to gather annually to learn about new directions in the industry and at the same time to catch up with what�s new in New York City, the world�s most exciting restaurant and hospitality city.� Presented in conjunction with the 85th annual IH/M&RS, �Restaurant Futurists� runs Sunday, November 12, through Tuesday, November 14, 2000, at New York�s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Subscription to �Restaurant Futurists� costs $395 per person, and includes admission to all educational sessions, food events, evening receptions and the IH/M&RS.
