July 9, 2012 - After a
full refurbishment, RIU Hotels & Resorts has just
reopened its Riu Caribe
hotel in Cancun on 29 June. This all-inclusive 24 hour resort enjoys a
seafront
location next to the recently opened Riu Palace Peninsula. The
renovation has
been carried out in several phases, with the final stage including the
lobby,
gardens, pools, bars and theatre. The total amount invested in the
project has
been 12 million dollars.
The Hotel Riu Caribe reopens with a modern style and fresh décor. All the communal areas and rooms are now much brighter thanks to the dominant presence of the colour white and the sea views. These are complemented with daring splashes of colour such as orange in the lobby and blue in the rooms. The hotel has 506 fully renovated rooms which now offer flat screen TVs, ‘laptop’ size electronic safes and wireless internet access, not to mention new furniture and linen. The bathrooms have also been renovated with the new style being rolled out in all RIU hotels, and they are now equipped with a shower tray instead of a bath. In the communal areas key features are the new lobby bars ‘Frida’ and ‘Kahlo’ which offer a terrace and a space for musical performances to liven up pre-dinner drinks. Also worth mentioning is the new lounge bar ‘Calypso’. This is located next to the lobby and will cater for people who are enjoying the shows and live music from the hotel's new indoor theatre in the evenings. The garden boasts three pools in total, one of which is completely new and has a water bar and another of which offers an area for children. For the little ones, there is club RiuLand with its programme of activities, as well as the playground. In terms of cuisine, the hotel offers an international buffet with dishes cooked to order, as well as a pizzeria in the pool area with a beautiful terrace. By booking in advance, guests can also dine in the ‘Gaviotas’ grill, the Mexican restaurant ‘María Margarita’ or the Asian restaurant ‘Shangri-la’. The hotel's range of facilities is completed with the Renova Spa, which offers a full menu of health and beauty treatments, as well as free use of its gym, sauna and jacuzzi. And for sportier guests, there are also two tennis courts, table tennis, beach volleyball, rifle shooting, as well as water activities such as windsurfing, catamaran, kayaking, bodyboarding and snorkelling.
