Following an investment of 120 million euros, the Riu Touareg has become the fifth hotel in Cape Verde as the Spanish hotel chain already operates two resorts on the Island of Sal and two on the Island of Boavista. The new hotel of 881 rooms, is the first RIU to feature three separate areas that meets the needs of our different types of clientele: "Adults Only", "Family & Children" and "Classic".
In the "Only Adults Zone", guests may enjoy several amenities including their own restaurant and swimming pool. The Family Zone features swimming pools and a multitude of areas and play grounds, and the "Classic" area offers the renowned traditional RIU service. The hotel presents a wide gastronomic offering in its main restaurant "Santo Antao" and its four specialty restaurants. The Gourmet Restaurant ""muhagh" will be exclusive for guests of the "Adults Only Zone". The hotel also offers a total of four bars and a nightclub called "Pacha".
In addition to the stunning white sand beach which is ideal for relaxing under the sun or enjoying all kinds of sports such as windsurfing, kayaking or snorkeling, the hotel features a swimming pool of over 1,000 square meters with integrated whirlpool and swim up bar, three saltwater pools and two children's pools. And for relaxation and beauty treatments, the Riu Touareg offers a complete Renova Spa, where guests can also enjoy the complimentary use of steam room and jacuzzi.
About RIU in Cape Verde: The chain opened its first hotel in Cape Verde in 2005 and, after the opening of the Riu Touareg, operates five resorts with a total of 2.650 rooms. The first hotel to open was the ClubHotel Riu Funana which was followed in 2006 by the ClubHotel Riu Garopa. Both hotels are located on the island of Sal and together form a large complex ideal for family holidays. On the island of Boavista the hotel chain has the Luca Kalema hotel and the Riu ClubHotel Karamboa which opened in 2008. This 5-star resort was recognized in 2009 with the Ulysses Award for Innovation in Tourism Enterprises awarded annually by the World Tourism Organization (WTO). The award recognizes the development of the tourism industry on the island and its environmentally friendly practices.
