Collegiate Chapter for
HSMAI-University of North Texas Chapter
DALLAS, Texas
(February 2011) The Hospitality Sales and Marketing
Association International – Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter (HSMAI-DFW)
attended the
2011 HSMAI Leadership Conference February 7, 2011 in Palm Beach
Gardens,
Florida hosted at the PGA National Resort & Spa. This year’s theme
“a
rising tide lifts all boats” and HSMAI is sailing to new horizons for
the 2011
year with the launch of a new HSMAI logo and a renewed focus on
rebuilding the
hotel membership of the association. Attendees of the 2011 conference receive pertinent information in both association business as well as the state of the tourism and hospitality industry to share with their chapters. Roger Dow, President and CEO, US Travel Association, spoke at this year’s conference about the funding of the Travel Promotion Act, and its effect on the tourism industry. Roger Berry, former CIO Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, also spoke on managing change during each company’s economical struggles. This year the HSMAI DFW Chapter also brought home two Frank W. Berkman Best of the Best Awards at the annual HSMAI Chapter Awards Gala. This year’s awards were for membership retention and development programs as well as Outstanding New Collegiate Chapter for the new HSMAI-University of North Texas Chapter. “We’re thrilled to have received these two amazing awards,” said Kimberly Hutcherson, the HSMAI-DFW chapter president, “it’s a testament to all of the hard work of our talented leaders and of our amazing membership, both of which are what give this association such a strong presence in the Dallas/Forth Worth area.” About the HSMAI Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter: The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex Chapter of the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International is an organization of sales and marketing professionals representing all segments of the hospitality industry. Berkman Best of the Best Award: A chapter award program instituted in 1980 to recognize those chapters in the United States that provide outstanding value to members. In 1996 the program was renamed the Frank W. Berkman Chapter Award Program to honor the memory of Frank W. Berkman, Executive Director of Association. In 1997 the program was expanded to acknowledge the “Best of the Best” in chapter operations in lieu of the “Chapter of the Year” award. |
